patterns so alarm cause is identifiable;

Hard wired CO alarms are powered off your properties mains wiring; in the event of a power failure the integral rechargeable Lithium Back up will operate the alarm.
Battery CO alarms can be useful if you have concerns about gas safety, on a foreign holiday for example. Being battery, they are fully portable.

Properties that have traditionally suffered above average levels of CO incidents, include Rented Accomodation, HMO's, Student Accommodation.
In UK all rented property is subject to an Annual Gas Safety inspection, by a duly competent CORGI fitter. However this normally excludes the tenant's own appliances such as a cooker, portable LPG heater. Owner occupiers are subject to no requirement for Annual Gas Safety Checks.

There are 2 Hard Wired models in the range.
Model as shown on left has Digital display to show
the CO level in parts per million (ppm) when a level of
at least 30ppm is detected.

You can Interconnect Kidde hard wired CO, Smoke & Heat alarms

By having a minimum of one CO Alarm per floor installed, you can be sure of hearing either alarm,
as when one detects Carbon Monoxide gas, both will sound.
Therefore, if the boiler downstairs was faulty & came on when the family was upstairs asleep,
the ground floor alarm would be the first to detect the gas build up.
However, with bedroom doors closed, sleeping occupants may not hear the downstairs one if that was the only one fitted.
Kidde recommend if only one is being installed to give priority to protecting bedrooms ie fit upstairs.

Technonolgy Unique to Kidde

Uniquely our technology permits our smoke & heat alarms to be smart interconnected to these CO alarms.
If a heat or smoke alarm is triggered, it will also sound the interconnected CO alarms; the CO alarm has a different tone for a "Fire" related event to a "CO" one.
Other makes do not, so there is scope for confusion as to the correct protocol
ie in a CO event, you open doors & windows to vent the property.
This is exact opposite of what you'd do if there was a fire.

Additionally on the Digital model apart from sounding the alarm, in the display the window will show "Fire" or "CO"
With the digital model therefore you enjoy 2 separate warning signals, audible & visible.

How Many Can be Interconnected?

If you are connecting together the maximum number of Kidde smoke, heat & CO alarms is 18 units.
This should be more than adequate for most domestic residences.

A CO alarm will only be triggered by 2 things:

1/ Alarm sensing CO at levels prescribed in the European Product Standard.
2/ Being triggered by another Kidde hard wired CO alarm

A CO alarm will additionally trigger:

1/  Kidde hard wired Smoke Alarms
2/  Kidde hard wired Heat Alarms

Accessories:

SMK23 Surface Mount Pattress can be used if necessary on refurb projects where mini trunking is being used.
In new build or where installer has access to ceiling or wall cavity it is normally a flush dry lining box that is used.

Maintenance:

Fitting CO alarms does not negate the need for a planned annual servicing regime by a competent/registered
installer. In the case of Gas appliances in the UK, they must be CORGI registered with competence for product involved eg boiler.
