Smart Interconnect Hard Wired CO
{Carbon Monoxide} alarm range launched

2 models are available; one with Digital display, one without.

The 423D/9hir model above, will show the CO, if present, in parts per million {ppm}.

The Digital models also indicate when
signalled by other interconnected

The fins are not just stylish; they ensure the alarm's
electronic sensor circuitry can monitor the air
once very 15 seconds; 4 times more frequently
than most.

The only hard wired CO alarms designed with the capability to provide wide area warning from
dangers of fire & carbon monoxide poisoning are now available from Kidde Fyrnetics.

Nov 2005: Kidde Fyrnetics is launching a brand new range of hard-wired CO alarms specifically for UK housing markets, to help prevent the 50 or so deaths and 200 serious injuries every year known to result from carbon monoxide poisoning. Resulting from extensive development and testing, the new CO alarms offer numerous important features including the unique ‘Smart Interconnect’ facility.

Both models in the new range are mains powered with sealed-in, rechargeable lithium cells for back-up, preventing tenant access.

They use electrochemical sensors sampling the air every 15 seconds – ensuring greater safety than others sampling at longer intervals.
Most on the market sample the air once a minute.

Alarms have a product life of 7 years from initial power up and full guarantee for 6 years.

Kidde Fyrnetics manufactures 24 million CO, smoke and heat alarms every year and has unrivalled expertise in
CO detection and commitment to ongoing research and development - with the resources to match as part of the
$43 billion United Technologies (UTC) group.

The neat circular design of the new range enables either ceiling or wall mounting  and lock in place by default on their base plate.
There is an easy to use test/reset button while separate user and installer manuals are included and also available on the Kidde Fyrnetics website.

The digital 423D/9HIR model includes a display showing the parts per million (ppm) when CO is detected, calculating the ppm and length of exposure time.
A peak recall feature can be used to call up the highest level (above 30 ppm) recorded since the button was last pressed and a memory recall facility
enables users to verify if there has been a CO incident in their absence which had ceased before their return,
ie the alarm may have been triggered by a timer controlled appliance.

The unique Smart Interconnect feature on both models enables up to 18 Kidde Fyrnetics hard-wired CO, smoke or heat alarms to be interconnected within a home.
When a smoke/heat alarm is triggered by a fire or a CO alarm by carbon monoxide, all the alarms activate to alert occupants of danger, giving whole property protection.

The new hard-wired CO alarms have different, distinct alarm sounder patterns for carbon monoxide and fire - supported by different digital
display messages on the 423D/9HIR model. CO is odourless and colourless, and can be produced by any fuel burning appliances with the incomplete
combustion of carbon based fuels including bottled or mains gas, coal, oil and wood.

Detailed information on avoiding carbon monoxide poisoning is available in the new CO alarm brochure and in the
latest issue of Residential Safety Update, available free of charge from Kidde Fyrnetics,
