Carbon Monoxide Prevention
In The Home

 Our comprehesive 6 page
Technical Brochure outlines
the dangers of Carbon Monoxide,
and how to prevent it.

The UK does not as yet have any Building Regulation that makes fitting CO Alarm devices mandatory,
as it is for Smoke & Heat Alarms.
Many cities in the USA now have such requirements and we anticipate it will happen here too.

The latest information on avoiding carbon monoxide poisoning in homes is available in a
new brochure just published by Kidde Fyrnetics.
This is essential reading for all public and private housing providers, and clarifies
their responsibilities to protect families from the very real dangers of CO, which
claims over fifty lives every year.

In addition to launching Kidde’s brand new range of hard-wired CO alarms, the brochure covers sources of CO in the home, effects on human health, legislation and legal responsibilities, and the impact of the Decent Homes Standard. The case for fitting CO alarms in all homes is made and guidance provided on alarm standards, siting and selection.

Detailed in the brochure, Kidde’s new hard-wired CO alarms offer numerous important features including the unique ‘Smart Interconnect’ facility enabling a number of Kidde Fyrnetics hard-wired CO, smoke or heat alarms to be interconnected within a home. When a smoke/heat alarm is triggered by a fire or a CO alarm by carbon monoxide, all the alarms activate to alert occupants of danger, giving whole property protection. Both models in the new range are mains powered with sealed-in, rechargeable lithium cells for back-up, preventing tenant access. They use electrochemical sensors sampling the air every 15 seconds – ensuring greater safety than others sampling at longer intervals. Alarms have a product life of 7 years from initial power up and full guarantee for 6 years.

Kidde Fyrnetics manufactures 24 million CO, smoke and heat alarms every year, enjoying unrivalled expertise in
CO detection and commitment to ongoing research and
development - with the resources to match as part of the
$37 billion United Technologies (UTC) group.
