UPDATING RESIDENTIAL SAFETY

Another issue of ‘Residential Safety Update’ has just been published with the latest news on fire and carbon monoxide safety in the home. Intended for architects, social housing providers, house-builders, electrical installers and all those involved with safety issues for residential buildings, the Update covers a wide range of topical issues of importance today.

Carbon monoxide poisoning is back in the news and this issue looks at pressures for CO alarms in all homes, including the new Housing Health and Safety Rating System - HHSRS. Fire safety is also covered by HHSRS and a senior environmental health officer is interviewed about the practical implementation of the new system by local authorities. With the very recent publication of a new Part B ‘Fire Safety’ Approved Document for England and Wales, the Update compares the various national regulations around the UK and Ireland, how they relate to the latest British Standard and asks why they differ.

There are also case studies on both fire and CO safety, news of the latest product and company developments from Kidde Fyrnetics, and a Help Desk answering frequently asked questions. Residential Safety Update is available free of charge from Kidde Fyrnetics, Tel: 01753 685148; Fax: 01753 685096; E-mail: resiupdate@onetel.com ; Web: www.smoke-alarms.co.uk .
