Slick® features & benefits

These alarms are available with loose alkaline battery back up, or with integrally fitted & sealed
in rechargeable lithium cells. They uniquely are interconnectabel to our hard wired CO alarms.
In line with our strategy to build in quality we have analysed existing rechargeable technolgies
and fitted the best performing for this type of application.
Others claiming to use the best have been found wanting
in low ambient temperatures.

Others may talk of "10 Year Life" but only Guarantee for 5 years.
Kidde's are Guaranteed for 10.

Our Rechargeable back up capacity will power alarms up to 8 months in the absence of AC power.
This sealed in type is the norm for most Public Landlords.

All Slick® Smoke & Heat Alarms have been subject to rigorous 3rd party testing
to achieve BSI Kitemark status.

For best overall protection Kidde recommend a minimum of 1 interconnected Ionisation & 1 Optical smoke alarm should be fitted together with 1 Heat Alarm.

Heat Alarms are designed for use in areas unsuitable for fitting with smoke alarms
because of concerns about nuisance alarms:
eg kitchens/unconverted loft spaces, integral garages.
(Integral garages are often under bedrooms, and contain many flammable materials, so are high fire risk).

When the ambient temperature reaches 57oc, or 132of, the alarm is triggered, along with
all other interconnected Kidde Fyrnetics Smoke, Heat & CO alarms.

The kitchen is the source of most domestic fires, and conversely is rarely protected.
These alarms are suitable for New Build to comply with the Building Regulations,
and also for refurbishment projects where had wired alarms are often added
alongside renewing the properties cabling.

The integral terminal block is wired into from the ceiling
void or in retrofit, if there is no access, from mini conduit.
Picture on right shows vertical mounting, whilst ceiling is the normal preferred location.
The Earth terminal is for installer's convenience only and is not connected to Alarm circuitry.
The Alarm is a double insulated device & does not require earthing.
Always uses 3 core & earth cable for interconnection between Alarms.

The foam gasket on the baseplate underside ensures a good fit
with the ceiling should it be coated with some sort of contoured "Artex" type coating.

On loose battery back up models, the Alarm is guaranteed for six years.

Once the baseplate has been wired in, & the terminal block cover
replaced (as shown below on left),  the Alarm's head simply slides onto the baseplate hinge arm.
Quicker than conventional cable harness connections.

Slide alarm fully home, and lock fully shut, on the base.
Only when the alarm snaps shut is the electrical connection made and
the back up battery power engaged.
Do  this with the mains supply isolated to prevent possibility of electrical arcing.
Once power is restored the green LED will glow.

Most dangerous room in the house, yet rarely fitted with alarm?

The kitchen consistently appears as the room where most domestic fires start,
as that is where cooking apliances are kept/used.

However strangely, except in New Build homes, this is the room more
often than not, where no alarms are installed.
If you are spending thousands of pounds on a kitchen upgrade, investing a fraction
of that in a Heat Alarm, & perhaps a Fire Blanket & Extinguisher too, provides enhanced protection.

By using Kidde you can also uniquely extend protection to include Carbon Monoxide protection too.
Student accommodation & HMO's are high risk regrads Fire & CO incidents.
