Leading manufacturer Kidde Fyrnetics has launched a clever, fast-access carton for its ranges of hard-wired smoke, heat and CO alarms for housing.

The new design enables electrical contractors to simply rip open cartons along the perforated front for immediate access, helping to speed up installation. This is just one of Kidde’s initiatives responding to installers’ demands to help improve their efficiency on site – and there are more to come. Kidde continue to include separate Installer and User manuals – also available on-line - as well as a protective dust cover cap to avoid damage and resulting call-backs.

For even quicker smoke and heat alarm installation, the popular Slick® range incorporates a unique fast-fit system where the separate base plate can be installed and wired at first fix, if appropriate. Then, near completion, the alarm simply slides onto the base plate hinge flap and locks into place by default. No cable harness is needed and the unique hinged connector avoids problems encountered with subsequent fixing over Artex and other ceiling decorative coverings. Slick® alarms are simply wired through the back or a side cut-out on new-build, or using a surface pattress in existing buildings. They are hard-wired and interconnectable up to 24 units if needed.
