Our Response to BBC Panorama TV Programme aired April 2nd 2007

Wrong recommendation given

The BBC Panorama TV programme clearly illustrated the fatal consequences of faulty gas appliances that led to the devasting & needless loss of 2 young lives.

However, the product displayed by their Reporter as a "CO Detector" was in fact just a chemical patch. These do not comply with any British Standard.
Whilst occupants are asleep or becoming drowsy, such devices are ineffective at detecting & then audibly alerting them to potential poisoning.

Only an electronic CO alarm can arouse the occupants before dangerous levels can build up, with its devastating consequences.

Corgi the gas installers registration body recommends holidaymakers to all Costa Del Sol resorts carry a Kitemarked CO alarm.
