UTC Fire & Security finalise acquisition of FireX

UTC Fire & Security completes FireX acquisition

UTC Fire & Security (parent of Kidde) completed its recently announced acquisition of 
FireX Safety business (“FireX”) of Invensys plc (“Invensys”) on December 31, 2007.

The purchase includes FireX smoke, carbon monoxide, and heat alarms; 
FireX® duct detectors, Code One™ smoke alarms, Monox® sensor technology, 
and Paragon® electronic and electromechanical timer brands and products. 
The purchased operations are located in
Plain City, OH, and Carol Stream, IL, in the US.

A small marketing/sales team in the U.K., Canada and Japan will also be part 
of this transaction following a transitional period.

During the transitional period, Invensys will provide certain shared services including 
manufacturing, distribution and administration to ensure a smooth transfer of operations.

FireX is seen as a strong strategic fit with the UTC's Kidde Residential & Commercial business; 
in the UK & Eire Kidde operates in the Electrical Wholesale market under the Kidde Fyrnetics brand. 

It  operates as part of Kidde Safety Europe Ltd, which is based at Colnbrook, near Heathrow.
